Perplexity supports direct purchasing via Shopify-powered checkout inside the Perplexity conversation. The buyer completes checkout without leaving the AI surface. The order appears in the merchant's Shopify Orders report with channel attribution as Perplexity. Direct checkout can be toggled off per-channel via the Agentic Storefronts admin if a merchant prefers to route Perplexity traffic to the storefront.

How Perplexity citation works

Every Perplexity answer cites sources inline with footnote numbers. A merchant whose store appears in a citation gets a measurable visibility signal: citation count over time, citation rank inside an answer (1st citation vs 5th matters), and which queries trigger the citation. The Agentic Storefronts admin's ranking queries pane shows which queries surface the product card; the citation pattern is a separate analytical pass.

Practical workflow: run 10-20 category queries weekly in a fresh Perplexity session. Note which sources Perplexity cites. Your store cited = good. Your store cited at position 1-2 = better. Your store cited at position 3+ = your data and editorial presence are working but lower-tier.
